This spring season brings several local and regional holidays, which impact how travelers are searching and booking their travel. We look into some of the trends that are shaping spring travel, including:

Early travel planners unite! Golden Week is already influencing April travel—so much so that April 29, the start of the Japanese holiday, is already one of the top three departure dates.

Variation in April departures: April 1, 29, and 13 are the top departure dates searched for April. Travel appears to be pretty split throughout the month, as opposed to other regions, where departure dates are more towards the beginning of April.

Long haul travelers look to depart mid-week: So far, Wednesday sees the higher percentage of spring travel departures, at 19%. This is in contrast to short-haul travel, where Friday is the most popular departure day.

Interest shifts to Japan: Japanese metros Tokyo, a usual favorite, and Osaka, new to the list, top the short-haul destinations searched this spring.
