Embrace Inclusion: Sojern Employees Around the World Celebrate Pride Month

Sojern employees around the world celebrated our core value “Embrace Inclusion” during June for Pride Month. Pride Month is a vibrant and inclusive celebration that honors the LGBTQIA+ community, their history, achievements, and ongoing struggle for equality. This annual event serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of acceptance, diversity, and love. It brings together individuals, organizations, and communities to advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and celebrate the progress made towards a more inclusive society.

To celebrate Pride Month, Sojern employees participated in local Pride celebrations. During the parades the LGBTQIA+ community celebrates who they are and the hard-fought achievements they have made. At the same time it is an opportunity to acknowledge that there is still a long way to go, and protest will always be at the heart of pride.

“Participating with Sojern in the Dublin Pride Parade was really nice,” says Talles Cassandri, client success associate at Sojern Dublin. “It's great to feel embraced by a company no matter what our background, religion or sexuality is. Sojern's value is to embrace inclusion and I feel like this is a reality for all of us employees and also the leadership, who invests resources into allowing us to do that.”

Our team found many other ways to celebrate Pride Month remotely and in person, including:

• Employees could set their webcam background to an image reflecting Pride celebrations, demonstrating their allyship to the LGBTQIA+ community
• The London team celebrated through an in-office gathering hosting Drag Queen Karaoke with Victor Victoria singing uplifting music together and celebrating Pride.
• The Singapore team watched Baby Queen,  a documentary of a young  drag queen's everyday life, and a testament to the social attitudes towards queerness in contemporary Singapore.
• The Omaha team came together over lunch and made their own desserts by decorating cookies as well as attending the local Pride march.

Sojern employees joined a virtual speaker who shared an overview of their journey campaigning for social justice, and how they used their work as a platform to support LGBTQIA+ and underrepresented communities and why it is so important to celebrate Pride.

“I loved the talk,” Clemence Sabatier, sales director, platform at Sojern Spain. “It was so inspiring and also very informative. It shed light on pretty shocking stats which according to me should be shared amongst more people. I wish more awareness of these discriminations were done in places such as schools and work offices.”
